A high-quality cargo bike is a major asset in everyday life – and a significant investment. That’s why it’s important to insure it from the very beginning. Many bicycle and e-bike insurance policies, however, have specific requirements regarding theft protection.
With the integrated security solutions of the Explorer 2, insuring your bike becomes much easier – including the GPS module. Even when not mandatory for insurance companies, the automatic digital motor lock (eBike Lock) and the unique Lovens ABUS anti-theft lock provide additional protection.

Top Tips for Protecting Your Lovens Cargo Bike
A cargo bike quickly becomes an essential part of your family and daily mobility. With these tips, you can help ensure it stays that way.
Tip 01.
Multi-layered Protection
For complete peace of mind, always use a high-quality mechanical lock in combination with a digital security feature such as the Bosch eBike System. This includes the digital key (eBike Lock) and the battery lock (Battery Lock).
Tip 02.
Deter
Make your Explorer less attractive to thieves with a motion alarm and locking function. Thanks to the Bosch eBike System and the eBike Flow App, you can digitally lock your cargo bike, activate an alarm, and check its status.
Tip 03.
Strategic Parking
Park your Lovens in clearly visible locations (busy areas, places with video surveillance, etc.) and always secure your cargo bike to a fixed object such as a sturdy bike rack or lamppost.
Tip 04.
Track
With a GPS tracker, you can monitor your cargo bike’s location in real time and, if necessary, share the data with the police or your insurance company.
Intelligent Additional Theft Protection
What once was only possible with a mechanical lock can now be done digitally on modern e-bikes, thanks to systems such as Bosch’s eBike Lock. Here’s what you need to know:
Simple and Convenient
The eBike Lock function is set up via the eBike Flow App. When switching on the bike, Bluetooth checks whether the smartphone with the correct digital key is nearby. Only then is motor assistance activated. If preferred, the Lovens can also be unlocked manually via the smartphone interface.
Digital Key
The eBike Lock function turns your smartphone into a digital key for your e-bike. Additionally, the Kiox display can be configured as a key. If your synchronized smartphone is lost, the eBike Lock function can be deactivated via the Flow App using another smartphone.
Minimal Effort, No Cost
The eBike Lock function is available free of charge within the Bosch smart system. We strongly recommend it as an additional theft protection feature for your Lovens.

Protection Against Rain – and Theft
The unfortunate trend of stolen rain covers inspired the Lovens design team to rethink this detail thoroughly. The result is a smart construction that allows you to secure both the bike frame and the rain cover to a fixed object using just one mechanical lock.
To further reduce the risk of rain cover theft during temporary parking, you can wrap a chain lock around the protective bar and the fabric.
Guide the lock through the partially opened side window and the opening in the box around the protective bar and fabric.
Attach the lock to a fixed object such as a pole or a wall or ground anchor.
This way, both your Lovens and the rain cover are securely protected.
